Robert's entry about how to run a headless windows box reminded me of my current dilemma. I currently have two PCs, each with Celeron 333 MHz processors that I overclocked to 450. (Remember back in '98 when people overclocked without water cooling?) They are in need of replacement. How best should I spend my computing dollars?

I've been considering getting the standard workstation and running windows in vmware. I'd do RAID of somesort, either with Linux or with hardware (read a hardware RAID roundup). I'd have only one machine to deal with. I think I'd spend about the same amount of money if I bought two machines, but I wouldn't have to worry about backing up two machines. I'd have ECC memory. Anyone out there with an opinion?
