David Brooks nailsThe Age of Political Segregation. Not only do I agree with his suggestion for a voluntary service program, I think it's time to establish a BBC style national news network. PBS is the obvious place to start. I've long thought that the primary system was horribly broken. A candidate that appeals to voters that are not staunchly partisan can't win the primary because those voters might be voting in the "other" primary. He didn't talk about the gerrymandering that goes on, but I think that only contributes to the problem. Both Republicans and Democrats take every opportunity to redesign the districts to ensure they stay in power. Update: Nicholas Kristof has a thought provoking article on why Calling Busy a Liar isn't necessarily a good thing.
