I'm usually dubious of deep readings of literature that find grand themes unrelated to the central plot. They seem to me to be created by the reader's world view, not the author's. We find what we look for. Claiming that the Harry Potter series is a neoliberal capitalist manifesto is so unexpectedly extreme that I have to admire the audacity.
