I saw a article about using ActiveSOAP with both REST and SOAP. It looked interesting and so I did some searching and found a very interesting article about the SOAP/REST Debate. His analogy comparing SOAP to a phone system with an operator was pretty compelling to me. I wasn't familiar with the history of SOAP and I found his account instructive.
