Fascinating article from Wired about how the average IQ has increased around the world over the past 75 years or so. One of the most interesting tidbits of information is the correlation of intelligence versus heredity and environment.

The same person tested twice: 87
Identical twins raised together: 86
Identical twins raised apart: 76
Fraternal twins raised together: 55
Biological siblings: 47
Parents and children living together: 40
Parents and children living apart: 31
Adopted children living together: 0
Unrelated people living apart: 0

I was amazed to see that parents and children have only a 31% correlation and adopted children living together have 0% correlation. Environment was not a factor in IQ! I think this illustrates how IQ is yet another standardized test with results that do not translate well into the real world. High IQ does not necessarily translate into life skills.
