The Atlanta conducted a poll of Republican and Democratic insiders asking Hillary in 2008?
The answers are pretty enlightening, I think. The Republicans say she is trying to move to the center, but she is, in fact, very liberal. The Democrats say she is not as liberal as she is portrayed.
Hillary is liberal, by any definition. That's not a bad thing on its own: I probably agree with her on many issues. However, strategically, it shows that the Democrats don't understand how most of the country views liberal as a dirty word. "Senator Kerry was the most liberal Senator" was an effective campaign tool.
I can't see how Hillary can get past the gender barrier. Oh, sure, people will claim they would vote for a woman, but when November 2008 rolls around and people are in the privacy of the voting booth, she won't get enough votes.
